Confidentiality
The Mil, Inc. maintains strict confidentiality with its clients unless
otherwise waived by written permission of the client. Confidentiality
agreements are signed willingly. In turn, reports of analysis may not
be duplicated without written permission of the MiL, Inc.
All work is coordinated under the strictest internal security to assure
complete confidentiality. A comprehensive body of Standard Operating
Procedures covers the instrumental methods of the laboratories'
operations and conform to the manufacturer's recommendations or
improvements thereof demonstrably established by the MiL, Inc.
II. Financial Information
Terms are net 30 days payable upon receipt of report for approved
clients (contact us); otherwise remit payment with samples. A surcharge
is added for RUSH services. Pricing is designed for single samples. A
minimum billing of $30.00 will be charged on all samples, including
those samples canceled at the client's request. A finance charge of
1.5% per month may be added to overdue balances. Coolers are returned
by parcel post [3rd/4th Class] and shipping and handling charges
invoiced [Typically $9.50].
III. Sample Submission:
Include a completed copy of the appropriate Analysis Request form with
your sample(s). All samples should be shipped with ice or preferably
"blue ice". Strains should be sent in a crushproof container, by an
overnight carrier
A. Soil and Water
For soil and wastewater or ground water, approximately 4 oz. of
material in a clean, unhandled jar is sufficient. If nutrient
chemistries are desired with submitted soil or water samples, at least
16oz. of soil and 1.0 Liter of water is required. For potable
(drinking) water samples please request the form "Method for collecting
drinking water samples for bacteriological analysis". A minimum volume
of 100 ml is required for drinking water. If Hydrocarbon Degradation
Studies are desired (i.e. Endpoint Assay, Comparative Population
Assay), please list the hydrocarbon substrate to be used in the space
provided at the bottom of the Sample Name chart.
B. Food and Consumables
Food and food product samples vary widely and the method for shipping
as well as the holding times for each type differ accordingly. Please
call us for instructions on how best to take, send and preserve your
samples.
C. Microorganisms/ Isolates
Strains should be shipped on agar Petri plates or slants, and sealed with parafilm.

IV. Sample Retention and Disposal
Most samples are retained for a period of 3 days after completion of
analyses or until payment of invoice as determined by the MiL's
discretion. Special PRIOR arrangements must be made to return or retain
samples under other conditions. We readily destroy all strains upon
payment and/or as requested by the client. Hazardous waste samples are
returned to the client for disposal.

the MiL, Inc. is not a human clinical diagnostic laboratory and makes
no warranty to the fitness of our data for such purposes. Our databases
do identify clinical organisms and we alert out clients to such
organisms found in submitted environmental samples for their
information. Our databases are significantly larger in numbers of
strains and species than typical of clinical data.
